Chicago Metropolis 2020 received a grant from the Illinois Court Improvement Program to train and distribute the animated DVD "Inside Him," first in the "Stories for Children That Grown-ups Can Watch" series.

The Illinois Childhood Trauma Coalition has partnered with the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) to advocate for a new diagnosis in the upcoming release of the DSM V in 2012. The new diagnosis is called "Developmental Trauma Disorder." The NCTSN saw a need for a diagnosis that would capture children with complex trauma histories who have symptoms not accounted for by current diagnoses.

The Illinois Childhood Trauma Coalition (ICTC), in collaboration with Chicago Metropolis 2020, the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority, the City of Chicago Department of Public Health and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, has agreed to coordinate the production and distribution of the Children Exposed to Violence animated DVD series, “Stories for Children That Grownups Can Watch.”  The ICTC has convened a working group representative of state and local gov

§           identify those systems serving children and families that may have a role in preventing or treating childhood trauma,

§           Develop, as appropriate, a consistent training message about childhood trauma

The Illinois Childhood Trauma Coalition is currently working on several projects. Two new committees were just recently formed.
