Work Group Charge

The Illinois Childhood Trauma Coalition (ICTC), in collaboration with Chicago Metropolis 2020, the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority, the City of Chicago Department of Public Health and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, has agreed to coordinate the production and distribution of the Children Exposed to Violence animated DVD series, “Stories for Children That Grownups Can Watch.”  The ICTC has convened a working group representative of state and local government agencies and private sector/community-based child-serving organizations.  The Working Group will assure that the materials of this project consistently employ a public health approach, are age appropriate and culturally sensitive, are available to a wide-range of public and private agencies and organizations serving children and are valuable and relevant to young children and the caring adults in their lives.  The DVD Project Working Group is charged with:

  • advising on content and making suggestions about “spokespersons;”
  • reviewing materials for cultural and content competency;
  • identifying appropriate purposes and audiences for the use of the materials;
  • seeking funds for future stories and continued production of existing chapters;
  • overseeing evaluation and evaluation reporting;
  • developing strategies and plans for promotion and distribution including identifying opportunities to use existing networks or linkages;
  • planning for adequate training so that the DVD’s may be used to greatest effect;
  • developing and implementing processes for sharing the products with interested parties outside Illinois.
